Ever Wondered Why the PS3 Came a Year Later Than The 360 ?

IGN are reporting that the PS3 was originally scheduled to release alongside the Xbox 360 in 2005 without a GPU, with the cell processor handling all of the load. But then testing proved that this would be a disaster performance wise and a GPU was added, causing a year long delay. “For a while, [PS3 had] no GPU, it was going to run everything with SPUs. The ICE team proved to Japan that it was just impossible. It would be ridiculous. Performance-wise, it would be a disaster. That’s why they finally added the GPU, closer to the end.”

New Need For Speed Rivals Trailer

The latest Need for Speed Trailer is about All Drive and it sounds amazing, here's what EA has to say: "There are no lobbies, no waiting; everything is seamless. You and your friends can all share the same game, same race and same chase. Paths cross and experiences merge: imagine your race and your friend's pursuit colliding creating a world where no two events will ever feel the same." Polygon also reported earlier that the PS4 version looks more visually impressive than its PC counterpart.

DriveClub Delayed, Contrast Becomes Day 1 Plus Game

Sony have confirmed that DriveClub has been delayed until early 2014: "SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Driveclub and Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014," Sony worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida explained. "Driveclub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision - and I'm fully confident the game will surpass your expectations. It will still be free on PS+ when it launches next year and to fill the gap left by DriveClub on Plus at launch Contrast will now be free at launch.

New Killzone Mercenary Path Fixes Online Connectivity Issues

A new patch designed to fix online connectivity issues has arrived for Killzone Mercenary today. The patch also improves the positions of respawn points to address balance issues and includes stability fixes. Its just over 1gb in size and you'll need around 2gb free in total on the memory card while you download and install it but Sony say they're working on ways to reduce that amount.

The Amazing Spider-Man Coming to Vita

A port of the Amazing Spider-Man game on the PS3 is coming to the PS Vita this year. The game has all the same features of the console version including the open world and includes extra controls designed for the Vita. " Web Rush mode, which allows time to be slowed for combat and movement purposes, is now controlled with the touchscreen, as is Peter Parker's smartphone GPS. The map can be dragged around and zoomed in and out of with touch controls, and waypoints can be placed in the same fashion as you'd expect. The Vita's gyroscope is used to let the in-game camera be aimed like a real camera with the device in your hands. "
