SUPERHOT to blast PSVR

Image
The very well received Superhot is to take on Playstation 4 and what's more in VR. Having played the game on PC it will be very interesting to see how the move over to Sonys headset works out. Check back soon for our review. Screens and video. From the developer: "Blurring the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem, SUPERHOT is the FPS in which time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's just you, outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing the weapons of fallen enemies to shoot, slice, and manoeuvre through a hurricane of slow-motion bullets."

PlayStation 4 PRO PSVR Boost

Image
I have been reading a few websites and what they think of PS4 PRO and how it boosts PlayStation VR. (or doesn't) I strongly feel that some sites, no matter what, are intent on hating the PRO. I got the PRO on launch to go with my Sony 4K TV. Now as you may know, the Sony TV does a great job of up scaling the image to 4K with the built in K1 chip. So games looked great before. PRO boosts them with my TV to really nice prity graphics and text now really pops on games like Fallout 4. I'm not sure if Fallout has had 4K patches yet but on my TV it looks incredible. Back to VR. Games simply look much, much better. Take VR worlds. I've read people say they see a slight difference. Rubbish. I've not played that game for two weeks and as soon as it loaded the difference was huge. The stone floor in the game lobby area is now crisp and the Dual Shock 4 is crisp with no jaggies. I tried the shark cage as this was the first game I tried when I first got the VR. EVERYTHING i...

Call Of Duty Jackal Assault VR Review: Updated

Image
Update: In-game VR footage. It come as a bit of a shock this week for Call Of Duty Jackal Assault to appear in the store for, get this......FREE. Ok it's short but this was announced as part of Infinite Warfare, but to download for free without even owning the full game from the store is massive kudos to Activision. In Jackal Assault you take charge of a state of the art fighter jet. As you sit in the cockpit you can look around the hanger and view your arms and hands moving back and forth as you move the thumb sticks on the dual shock 4. After shooting out of the hanger you are treated to a short tutorial to get to grips with the controls. You use the thumb sticks as you would any FPS or flight game but the VR twist comes in the form of seeking out targets buy just looking for them and locking on then firing homing missiles with L2. Firing your main guns is with R2. You can invert your looking preference by simply pressing square. Graphics are very good and s...

How We Soar For Playstation VR

Image
How we soar is a beautiful looking flight game that sees you riding on the back of a Phoenix.  The game has a very authentic look to it. It instantly put me in mind of Tearaway combined with Flower. If the developer can pull off the same kind of fun found in those game in a VR world we could be in for a traet. Some of the development team are of Crytek and the brilliant makers of Timesplitters games, Free Radical no less. HWS is a Playstation VR game and to give you an idea of how it plays take a look at the below video. More news as soon as we get it. How We Soar will launch this year for Playstation VR.

PlayStation VR Worlds Review

Image
Many gamers have made a royal fuss over this game arguing that it should have been included with the VR headset as demo tech. In one way I agree but hey, these things cost money to develop so I'm more than happy with the £22.00 entry fee I paid for the game. It costs that to go to see a movie with the wife without eating.....go figure. I feel I've more than had my monies worth with my play time and more than that, I've had the wife on it, my son, friends and my Mum and Dad are coming for tea this week for some fun. PlayStation VR Worlds hits the nail on the head where it needs to. Something for everyone. My first experience of PSVR was Ocean Decent. It's the voyage into the deep that is simply a Shark cage ride into the depths viewing all sorts of marine life with a heart racing attack at the end to spice things up. The demo gives you your first real spacial awareness feel of how far you can move before face-planting yourself on your front room wall. I tried t...

To say the game looks lush is an understatement. PS Pro support is also on the cards. We'll have Pro in the next 10 days so we'll be bringing you a full review of the game soon.

Until Dawn Rush Of Blood Review

Image
PlayStation VR is here. With it comes probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest line up of games any launch has seen. So how do you choose what games to get, what will make you feel ill? if any. I went for VR Worlds and Rush of Blood, an Until Dawn spin off. Now I remember seeing a big Internet games site saying they'd played Until Dawn on PSVR but it wasn't the game you were hoping for. This statement was so far off the mark, in fact Rush of Blood is not only brilliant, it's my first AAA VR game and the game that in fact made me happy about my £349.00 investment. And you know what? It cost £12.00. I know what your thinking, a £12.00 game justifying a £349.00 purchase? you're mad. Maybe I am or maybe the developer just nailed that feeling I wanted, that, 'I'm in the game feeling.' When you boot up the game you're greeted to a slow move down a track up to the title screen. This was the first time I yelled out in VR. My wife sitting b...

PlayStation VR Review. Reality Check!

Image
I remember sitting in a black box in an arcade with a scope in front of my face while roaming about on a map in a tank made up of neon sticks blowing up other neon stick tanks. This game was Battlezone, the arcade was at Llandudno pier, I was 11 or so. Yes that's (cough) 35 years ago.....maybe? This was my first go at a VR type game. 2016. October 13th. PlayStation VR is here. I pre-ordered in March when it first went to press. Over the few months that passed I avoided going to any of the pre-shows of PSVR, why? I'm one of these that want that, "first time" in the quiet of my own surroundings. One thing I wish I'd not done and that was watch to many VR demos on YouTube. You see VR is totally different in reality. Many users have had issues with the image like myself, in fact it took me playing with the HTC Vive before I realised that the image is all part and parcel of the VR headset. First and formost the headset itself is a design marvel. Putting it on...

Playstation VR Blurred Graphics problems. UPDATED 30/10/16

UPDATE: Expectation is a strange thing. Seeing many YouTube videos of VR games is not a great idea. Vr in reality is totally different to what you see on the TV. On paper an OLED 1080p screen sounds all nice and crisp but when in front of your eyes and massive you can understand why some people, like me, can be taken back with what they see. Once I got used to it though and a week or so later I'm now blown away. Once I'd got used to the image I was hooked by what I was doing in this new games space. I've had two headsets and they are identical. I've also tried the HTC Vive now, imo the PSVR is overall much better. Origonal Story: Many Playstation VR users are reporting very blurred images with the new VR headset..........including me. I was very excited to try VR for the first time only to be very disappointed by what I was seeing. (tried phone VR in the past) I tried the Shark game in the VR Worlds game only to be greeted by a very blurred shark cage and what lo...

Playstation VR Star Wars Greatness awaits

Image
If this doesn't sell Star Wars fans the idea of VR......Nothing will. X-Wing will be a download for all those lucky Battlefront owners that take the plunge with PSVR this Friday. It's not clear if this will be out Friday or when the new movie comes out.

Playstation VR is nearly here.

Image
After a long break from the website I'm pleased to say that I'm back. VR is going to shake up games and who knows, change the way we play and think about games.  VR is nothing new but is has had a very slow start on PC. But this is PlayStation. Over 40 million gamers are able to jump right in just needing the PS camera and VR headset to get started. Are you ready? We can't wait. Reviews to follow.
