Sonys VR Headset Project Morpheus Revealed

Sony has revealed its Oclus Rift competitor codenamed project Morpheus to the world.

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida announced it saying "Virtual reality is the next innovation from from PlayStation that may well shape the future of games,"

The all important technical specs are as follows:


  • LCD Display:
  • LCD panel size: 5 inches
  • Panel Resolution: 1920×RGB×1080 (960×RGB×1080 per eye)
  • 1000Hz tracking
  • Field of View: 90 degrees
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyroscope
  • Connection interface: HDMI + USB
  • 3D audio support
  • 'Social Screen feature' mirrors experience onto TV (Allows for unique asymmetric gameplay)
  • 3 meter working volume
  • Supports 'forward prediction'
  • DualShock 4 and PS Move compatible
  • Highly adjustable unit
  • Direct on-board audio jack for headphones
  • No weight placed on nose or cheeks

They also announced that the device can mirror its display to a TV so friends can see what's happening.

Sony has also developed a new sound technology that allows players to hear sounds from above and below them in addition to the standard left and right sounds.

The Playstation camera will be required to use the headset as it provides the tracking capabilities via it's stereo cameras.

Warframe Review. Playstation 4's best launch game. Updated.

Update : 5/01/2014. The developers would like to point out that Warframe is in its beta stage on PS4. They have let us know updates will be regular and trophies will come in a future update.
