The PS4 is Not Like a PC Claims Killzone Dev

Speaking in Edge magazine Guerrilla Games’ technical director Michiel Van Der Leeuw has called people claiming the PS4 is a like a high end PC trolls and fanboys.

He highlights that the main differences are that the PS4 contains components designed to work together without the bottlenecks typically found in computers.

“A PC is a number of parts which also has bridges in between where there are inefficiencies that may not be exactly the right match. We’ve got the right amount of memory, video card, everything balanced out. I know it was a very conscious effort to make sure that, with the speed of the memory, the amount of compute units, the speed of the hard-drive that we put in, that there would not be any bottlenecks. So the amount of pixel-pushers that you have, the amount of memory, the speed of your compute units make sure that you don’t hit any of the weakspots of the hardware.”

It's also becoming clear why the developers are coming out with such praise for the system as he revelead that Guerrilla games were responsible for 4 major redesigns of the PS4s graphics chip.

"Guerrilla made at least five different major changes to the graphics chip, CPU and on the bandwidth between the different components, to define and then eliminate any disruption in performance. "

  1. Knowing nothing about pc's I put a more powerful graphics card in my old desktop but the motherboard etc was old and that created big problems. I agree with him about fanboys, it's amazing after the PS4 was shown just how many 'high end PC'owners were on forums owning Crysis 3.
