Criterion Moving Away From Racing Games
In multiple tweets, Criterion chief Alex Ward has said that the studio will not be making the next Burnout or Need for Speed games.
Here is what I want folks to know. Some folks are eternally disappointed. Nothing I can do about that. So many tweets asking for new Burnout

Burnout is still one of the classic games on the PS3 and holds up to modern racers, 5 years after it's release.
